- New Jersey ranks #1 in the nation in the percentage of students who graduate.
- New Jersey’s gradation rate is estimated at 87 percent, above the national average of 73 percent.
- In New Jersey, 69 percent of black students complete high school, well above the national average of 59 percent.
- In the past decade, New Jersey’s high school completion rate has increased 11 percentage points, outpacing the rest of the nation, where the increase was 7 percent.
- On average, 70 percent of male students earn a diploma compared with 76 percent of female students,a gender gap of nearly 7 percentage points that has remained virtually unchanged for years.
- In 2009, 73 percent of students with disabilities completed high school.
- In 2009, the high school drop out rate among students with disabilities was 2.5 percent. For white, non-disabled students, the rate was 0.9 percent.*
