Increasing the dialogue among stakeholders in New Jersey’s special education system

  1. The White House estimates that the sequester will result on $85 billion in automatic spending cuts.
  2. New Jersey will lose approximately $11.7M in federal funding for primary and secondary education.
  3. 15,000 fewer students will be served as a result of the sequester
  4. 60 schools will no longer receive federal funding
  5. New Jersey will lose approximately $17M in federal funding for special education.
  6. Approximately 210 teachers and para-professionals now serving children with disabilities will be cut.
  7. Approximately 1,300 low-income children will be eliminated from Hear Start and Early Head Start.
